20-Year-Old Man Killed in Single-Car Wreck in Lake County

Lake County, California (April 8th, 2019) – According to reporting from the Lake County Record-Bee, a 20-year-old man was identified as the victim of a deadly single-car accident that occurred Monday on the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff. Ruben James Foreman was riding as a passenger in the vehicle of an 18-year-old driver. Along with another unidentified juvenile, they were travelling in the northbound direction on the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff. At approximately 4:30 PM, the driver lost control of his Acura Integra and crashed into a wooden fence that was along the side of the roadway. Tragically, Foreman suffered devastating injuries in the wreck. Emergency service workers stated that he was unresponsive at the scene of the accident. He was later pronounced dead at a Lakeport, CA hospital. Neither the driver nor the juvenile passenger is believed to have suffered serious injuries in the crash. The California Highway Patrol does not believe that drugs or alcohol was a factor in the accident. Though, poor road conditions as a result of rainy weather may have contributed. This crash is still being investigated by the authorities. Driver Arrested following Chain-Reaction Crash Involving Stolen Pickup

On Wednesday morning, a chain-reaction collision on Balboa Boulevard left debris spread for more than a block. At least four people suffered injuries in the crash involving a stolen pickup truck on a San Fernando Valley Street. The stolen vehicle was a Toyota Tacoma, one of at least 5 vehicles involved in the crash. Also damaged in the crash was a city parks and recreation truck. Aerial views of the Lake Balboa scene, show a pickup with heavy damage, and a wrecked Honda sedan. Witness reports say officers were in pursuit of the driver as he sped down the street. At one point, in the 6800 block of North Balboa Boulevard, the driver clipped another vehicle, starting the chain-reaction crash. The Tacoma then flipped and collided with a second car, sending it careening toward a Subway restaurant where the vehicle stopped just short of hitting a utility pole. Witnesses commented on the deafening sound of the crash and customers in the restaurant feared the car would crash through the building. Three people sustained serious injuries and one reported minor injuries. Two victims became trapped in their vehicles during the crash. Initial reports said one person had died, but Los Angeles police later corrected that statement. There were no fatalities. Police arrested the driver of the Tacoma at the scene. Police also arrested the passenger who led them in a chase through a McDonald’s parking lot, the man was wanted in connection with a burglary. Fountain Valley Crash Kills 13-Year-Old Boy, DUI Suspect Arrested

Fountain Valley, CA (April 2,2019) – A Tustin resident found himself arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a 5-car crash that killed a 13-year old San Marcos boy. On Saturday, around 11 p.m. the 24-year-old suspect’s 2014 Toyota Tacoma truck was traveling northbound in the HOV lane of the 405 freeway. It slammed into the back of a disabled 2015 Honda Odyssey minivan stopped in the carpool lane near Euclid Street. The Tacoma was traveling at an unknown speed when it collided with the minivan. It is unclear why the minivan was stuck in the carpool lane. A family of five from San Marcos was in the Odyssey and suffered injuries ranging from moderate to fatal. The Orange County Coroner’s office pronounced a 13-year-old boy dead at the scene. Following the first crash, a 2019 Toyota Tacoma also traveling in the HOV lane, rear-ended the 2014 Tacoma. CHP officers said the four occupants of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. The driver believed to have caused the accident in the first place suffered major injuries. CHP officers arrested the man under suspicion of DUI, according to CHP officers. Firefighters had to extract the driver from his badly mangled pickup. His name has not been released. Ultimately, the crash involved a total of 5 vehicles. The other two vehicles sustained only minor damage. Airman Killed in Off-Base Car Crash

Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. (April 2, 2019) – Last week, the U.S. Airforce published a press release announcing the death of an active-duty Airman in an off-base vehicle accident. The 25-year-old airman was assigned to Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. The release identified him as Staff Seargent Rueben Adam Gilbert, of Auburn, California. Gilbert was a Cyber Systems Supervisor with the 28th Communications, Squadron. Colonel John Edwards said of the incident, “This is a tragedy for our wing to lose one of our own. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved and their families. We are committed to supporting his loved ones and his fellow Airmen during this difficult time.” The accident happened Friday night, near the town of Hot Springs, S.D. One Dead in Multi-Vehicle Costa Mesa Crash

COSTA MESA (March 29, 2019) – A fatal vehicle crash closed all northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway during the busy Wednesday morning commute. One person died and three required treatment at the hospital. Traffic came to a standstill for several hours following the early morning crash. The accident involved four cars in the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa. Police responded to the crash around 4:45 a.m. near the Harbor Boulevard exit. One person was ejected from a vehicle and died at the scene. Medical responders transported three others to area hospitals where they received treatment for unspecified injuries. The initial accident involved at least four vehicles. Several other crashes and fender benders followed the accident. All lanes of the highway reopened by 7 a.m. Traffic remained slow with backups extending well past South Coast Plaza. California Highway Patrol is still investigating. Name of San Mateo County Woman Killed in Rollover Accident Released

San Mateo County (March 28, 2019) – On Wednesday, authorities released the identity of a San Mateo County woman killed in a rollover crash earlier this month. The office of the Santa Clara County medical examiner identified the woman as 86-year-old Inez Barranti of Millbrae. This fatal crash happened in an unincorporated area of San Mateo County earlier this month. Around 2:30 on March 13 a 2002 Hyundai was traveling east off I-280 near the Crystal Springs  Golf Course. A white 2016 Volkswagen, driven by a 16-year-old girl, collided with the Hyundai. The girl was attempting a turn from the northbound highway off-ramp onto Golf Course Drive when the collision happened. The crash caused the Hyundai to roll and come to rest on its left side. Both the driver of the Hyundai and his two passengers were taken to Stanford Hospital. Barranti died at the hospital. Injuries to the driver were moderate and the second 89-year-old passenger complained of pain but was not severely injured. The driver of the Volkswagon or her 15-year-old female passenger were not injured. Head-on Collision Kills Pregnant Mother In Selma

Selma, CA (March 27, 2019) – Last week, a woman who was 4 months pregnant died in a head-on crash in Selma. California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash near Conejo Avenue and Fowler Avenue around 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The 23-year-old mother to be was Natalie Aceves of Hanford as identified by the Fresno County Coroner. Aceves was driving a black sedan at the time of the accident. A white Chevy Malibu driving in front of Aceves attempted a U-turn. An SUV traveling in the opposite direction veered to miss the Malibu and despite attempts to avoid a collision, struck Aceves’ sedan. The mother and her unborn child both died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Aceves’ 11-year-old stepdaughter was in the front seat at the time of the crash. She was severely injured and is in critical condition at Community Regional Medical Center. CHP says the safest place in a vehicle for children of any age is in the backseat. Although state law only mandates children 8 and under ride in the backseat. The driver of the Silverado was treated at Selma Community Hosptial with minor injuries. State Route 46 Crash Claims Life of Wasco Woman

San Luis Obispo County (March 26, 2019) – A car accident on State Route 46 near Jack Ranch Cafe on Saturday morning killed a woman from Wasco. The crash was just southwest of “Cholame Y” just before 6:30 a.m. according to California Highway Patrol. A sedan leaving the cafe parking lot with three passengers was attempting to turn onto State Route 46 and did not see an approaching minivan. When the driver made the turn into the roadway, the two cars collided. The impact threw one passenger from the sedan onto the roadway. That person was dead at the scene. The accident took the life of 54-year-old Isabel Rodriguez Fraire From Wasco, California. The three others in the sedan were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Their conditions are still currently unknown. The minivan driver did not sustain any injuries. The crash is still under investigation. Single Vehicle Crash in San Luis Obispo Leaves Two Critically Injured

SAN LUIS OBISPO (March 20, 2019) – Two people were seriously injured Monday evening in a single vehicle crash along Highway 101, south of San Luis Obispo. The driver of the vehicle lost control and hit a tree. At around 6:50 p.m. on Monday, 32-year-old Santa Maria resident, Enrique Santana was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck north on Highway 101. Near San Luis Bay Drive, Santana lost control of the vehicle. The pickup went off the side of the road and down an embankment where the driver’s side door slammed into a tree. Police are unsure of what caused Santana to lose control of the truck. Emergency services dispatched several rescue crews to the scene, including San Louis Obispo City Fire and Cal Fire. The passenger, 24-year-old Barbara Trigueros of San Louis Obispo was able to exit the car on her own following the crash. First responders had to remove Santana from the vehicle. Both were critically injured in the crash and transported to an area hospital. Cleanup and investigation closed one northbound lane of Highway 101 for a time after the crash. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but, driving under the influence is not a suspected cause. Suspected Drunk Driver Hits 3 Pedestrians and a Parked Car

SANTA CRUZ (March 19, 2019) – California Highway Patrol has one man in custody after he struck 3 pedestrians and a parked car on East Cliff Drive near Assembly way in Santa Cruz on March 16. Around 6:30 Saturday evening, a silver sedan struck the pedestrians, a family of three. They were sitting on a wall facing the ocean when the vehicle hit them. All three were treated at an area hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known but did not appear to be life-threatening. Police closed East Cliff Drive for a short time following the accident. The names of the suspect or the family were not yet released. CHP officers said it is possible the driver was also involved in a previous hit and run earlier that day on First and Atlantic Ave. He was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI.
